This Seafood Startup Is Changing How India Eats Fish — Raises Rs 30 Crore

Seafood infrastructure startup Dam Good Fish (DGF) has secured a strategic funding round at a valuation of around Rs 30 crore (approximately $3.6 million). The investment will fuel the company’s plans to expand supply chains, strengthen processing infrastructure, and enter new metro markets while building teams in data, operations, and supply chain management.

Co-founded in 2023 by Shobhit Gaur and Shailesh Patel, Dam Good Fish has quickly positioned itself as a premium, sustainable seafood provider, delivering ultra-fresh, chemical-free fish directly from dams to consumers.

AI-Powered Demand-to-Harvest System

Predicting Demand at the Pincode Level

DGF is building a “Demand-to-Harvest” operating system. Using AI, the startup predicts seafood demand at the pincode level, aligning procurement and harvesting with real consumption. This approach ensures:

  • Reduced post-harvest waste through precise inventory management
  • Improved inventory turnover and better unit economics
  • Efficient cold-chain operations for ultra-fresh deliveries

AI is integrated across key functions, including demand forecasting, procurement intelligence, inventory optimization, and cold-chain monitoring, giving DGF a technological edge over traditional seafood supply methods.

Strong Market Performance

Growing Customer Base and Repeat Purchases

In Delhi NCR, DGF has established a strong presence with:

  • Over 5,000 active households regularly purchasing seafood
  • Repeat purchase rate above 55%, reflecting customer trust and satisfaction
  • B2B partnerships with platforms like Hyperpure, expanding reach to commercial clients

The company focuses on controlled expansion, building density in targeted pincodes and encouraging repeat consumption for predictable demand cycles.

Future Expansion Plans

Metro Focus: Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru

With the fresh funding, DGF plans to:

  • Expand supply and processing infrastructure
  • Enter new metro markets, starting with Mumbai and Bengaluru
  • Strengthen teams across supply chain, operations, and data analytics

By scaling carefully and leveraging its AI-powered demand system, DGF aims to maintain quality while reaching more customers with sustainable seafood.

Sustainability and Transparency at the Core

DGF is not just delivering fresh fish — the company emphasizes chemical-free, naturally raised seafood and sustainable farming practices. Its transparent supply chain ensures consumers know where their seafood comes from, helping build trust and long-term loyalty.

The startup represents a growing trend of tech-enabled, responsible food supply chains in India, combining AI, operational efficiency, and sustainability to deliver high-quality products to urban households.

Why Investors Are Excited

Investors see DGF as a promising seafood infrastructure startup with strong potential to scale across Indian metros. The integration of AI in every stage of operations, combined with sustainable and chemical-free practices, positions DGF as a high-potential player in the evolving foodtech ecosystem.
