Kapiva Raises $60 Million—Could This Ayurveda Startup Become India’s Next Unicorn?

India’s wellness revolution just got a major boost. Kapiva, the fast-growing ayurveda and herbal wellness brand, has raised a whopping $60 million in funding, sparking buzz that it could become the next Indian unicorn in health and wellness.

With this round, Kapiva has now raised nearly $90 million since its inception, proving investors are betting big on the startup’s mission to modernize Ayurveda for everyday consumers.

Funding Breakdown: Who’s Backing Kapiva

The $60 million round is split into:

  • $28 million in primary capital to accelerate growth and innovation
  • $32 million in secondary transactions, letting early investors like Fireside Ventures partially exit

The round follows a $10 million infusion in September 2024 from OrbiMed Asia, Vertex Ventures, and 3one4 Capital.

Kapiva’s Mission: Ayurveda Meets Modern Technology

Founded in 2015 by Ameve Sharma and Shrey Badhani, Kapiva offers 100+ Ayurvedic products, from gummies, capsules, and supplements to skincare. It also enables consultations with Ayurvedic doctors, making traditional wellness accessible to modern consumers.

With the new funds, Kapiva plans to:

  • Invest heavily in R&D to develop next-gen herbal products
  • Expand manufacturing and logistics for faster scale
  • Boost marketing and brand-building to reach millions more
  • Enhance its health-tech platform for chronic condition management and personalized care
  • Accelerate international expansion in the UK, US, and UAE, which currently contribute 5–10% of revenue

Explosive Growth Trajectory

Kapiva has rapidly scaled across India:

  • Present in 40,000 offline retail stores
  • Available on its own website and major ecommerce platforms
  • Annual revenue run rate of Rs 550 crore, up from Rs 350 crore in FY25
  • Sustained 80%+ year-on-year growth over the past three years

The startup is now poised to dominate India’s booming Ayurvedic wellness market, projected to reach Rs 3.21 lakh crore by 2032 at a CAGR of 17%.

Why Investors Are Betting Big

Kapiva combines:

  1. Strong product innovation—100+ SKUs and continuous new launches
  2. Health-tech integration—personalized wellness plans and chronic care solutions
  3. Massive distribution reach—offline, online, and international markets
  4. Trusted brand with rapid adoption and repeat customers

This mix positions Kapiva as a strong contender to become India’s first global Ayurveda unicorn.

The Global Opportunity

With subsidiaries already in the UK, US, and UAE, Kapiva is testing international waters. If successful, it could emerge as the face of modern Ayurveda worldwide, combining traditional wisdom with science, innovation, and tech-enabled convenience.

As founder Ameve Sharma says:

“This funding allows us to move faster on our vision for Kapiva—to make quality Ayurvedic wellness products exciting, accessible, and impactful across India and beyond.”

Bottom Line

Kapiva’s $60 million funding round isn’t just a financial milestone—it’s a signal of ambition, scale, and global intent. With rapid growth, technology-driven wellness solutions, and international expansion plans, Kapiva is on track to reshape the Ayurveda landscape in India and possibly the world.

The big question remains: Will it become India’s next wellness unicorn—or just another high-flying startup?
