Innovodigm Raises ₹5.5 Crore to Revolutionize Vaccine Delivery with Needle-Free Patch

A Promising Step Forward in Medtech Innovation

Innovodigm, a medtech startup founded in 2020 by Jhimli Manna and Ayan Chatterjee, has raised ₹5.5 crore in a seed funding round. The round was led by the Indian Angel Network (IAN), which contributed ₹4.5 crore, while PadUp Ventures invested the remaining amount. This fresh capital is set to accelerate the development of Innovodigm’s groundbreaking vaccine delivery technology.

What Is Innovodigm’s Microneedle Array Patch?

Innovodigm is developing a Microneedle Array Patch (MAP) platform—a needle-free vaccine delivery system that aims to solve many problems with traditional injectable vaccines. Unlike normal vaccines that require cold storage and involve needles, this patch contains thermostable vaccines that stay effective for up to 120 days at 40°C.

This means the vaccine can be stored and transported without the usual refrigeration, significantly reducing cold-chain dependency. The patch is designed to be easy to apply and pain-free, making it ideal for use in remote areas or places with limited medical infrastructure.

Why This Technology Matters

Traditional vaccine delivery often faces challenges such as needle phobia, waste from syringes and vials, and complicated cold-chain logistics that increase costs and limit access. Innovodigm’s microneedle patch addresses these issues by:

  • Eliminating the need for needles, reducing pain and fear.
  • Providing vaccines that remain stable even in higher temperatures.
  • Reducing medical waste from syringes and vials.
  • Expanding vaccine access to underserved and remote populations.

How Innovodigm Plans to Use the Funding

The ₹5.5 crore raised will help Innovodigm scale up its operations and prepare for critical next steps, including:

  • Optimizing manufacturing processes for higher efficiency.
  • Expanding infrastructure and laboratory facilities.
  • Growing the team with skilled experts to support development.
  • Preparing for third-party preclinical validation and clinical trials, expected to start in 2026.

Recognition and Validation

Innovodigm’s technology has already received significant recognition. Their Microneedle Array Patch was selected as one of the Top 2 Technologies at the Nano Electronics Showcase 2025, organized by India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT. Additionally, they have signed a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) with a leading Indian vaccine manufacturer to carry out third-party validation studies.

These milestones add strong credibility and indicate the technology’s potential to transform vaccine delivery.

What to Expect Next

With preclinical validation underway and clinical trials scheduled for 2026, Innovodigm is moving closer to making their needle-free vaccine patch available for public use. If successful, this technology could be a breakthrough in global health by simplifying vaccination campaigns and improving access.

The Bigger Picture: Impact on Healthcare

Innovodigm’s innovation is particularly relevant for countries like India, where vast rural populations often face logistical challenges in accessing healthcare. By removing the need for cold storage and simplifying vaccine administration, the MAP platform could drastically improve vaccination rates and outcomes.
