Groww’s Profit Skyrockets 12% Even as Revenue Falls — Here’s How CEO Cracked the Code

India’s leading stock brokerage Groww has stunned investors by posting a 12% jump in net profit to Rs 471 crore in Q2 FY26, despite a decline in revenue amid a challenging retail trading environment.

This is the first quarterly result since Groww’s stock market debut, and it shows that the company is finding creative ways to thrive even when the market slows down.

Revenue Dips, But Profits Soar

  • Revenue from operations fell 9.5% year-on-year to Rs 1,018.7 crore, down from Rs 1,125.4 crore last year.

  • Including other income of Rs 52.1 crore, total income stood at Rs 1,070.8 crore.

  • Sequentially, revenue increased 12.7% from Q1 FY26, showing momentum despite year-on-year drops.

  • For H1 FY26, revenue fell 9.6% to Rs 1,923.1 crore, reflecting broader market softness and a dip in NSE active users from 50.2 million to 45.3 million.

Even with falling revenues, Groww found ways to protect its bottom line.

The Secret Behind Profit Growth

The company’s stellar cost management played a huge role:

  • Total expenses dropped 26.7% year-on-year to Rs 432.6 crore.

  • Employee benefits, the biggest expense, fell over 53% to Rs 123.8 crore.

  • Finance costs edged up slightly, while depreciation remained stable.

Thanks to these measures, net profit surged 12.2%, and H1 FY26 profits rose 12.1% to Rs 849.7 crore.

User Base and Assets Keep Growing

Despite market challenges, Groww continues to expand its reach and assets:

  • 19 million transacting users, up 27% year-on-year.

  • Customer assets grew to Rs 2.7 lakh crore, a 33% increase.

  • Mutual fund assets crossed Rs 1.4 lakh crore, and equity assets reached Rs 1.18 lakh crore.

Strong user engagement and healthy inflows into funds and equities are helping Groww sustain growth.

CEO’s Customer-First Strategy

Groww’s CEO explained the secret to their success:

“We think from the customer’s perspective.”

Focusing on user experience, ease of investing, and long-term value, Groww has managed to turn market challenges into profit opportunities.

Key Takeaways

  • Revenue decline doesn’t have to mean falling profits.

  • Strategic cost management can drive substantial earnings growth.

  • A strong customer-first approach helps maintain engagement and assets even in weak markets.

  • Groww continues to compete aggressively with rivals like Zerodha while scaling its business efficiently.

Groww’s Q2 FY26 performance proves that with the right strategy, costs under control, and focus on customers, even challenging market conditions can be turned into profit opportunities. The brokerage is clearly poised for long-term growth in India’s evolving investment landscape.
