Backed by Razorpay Co-Founder, Nailinit Is Building India’s Next Big Beauty Brand

India’s beauty market is booming, but some categories remain surprisingly under-branded. Nail care is one of them — high frequency, widely used, yet largely dominated by unorganized or generic products.

Mumbai-based nail care startup Nailinit is looking to change that.

The brand has raised Rs 2.5–3 crore in a pre-seed funding round co-led by Gruhas Collective Consumer Fund and Marsshot VC. The round also saw participation from several angel investors, including Shashank Kumar, co-founder of Razorpay, along with Arjit Johri, Yash Jain, Karan Jindal, Jivraj Singh Sachar, Nishank Jain, Yashvardhan Kanoi, Ashwarya Garg, Venus Dhuria, founder of Phot.AI, and Amishi Parasrampuria.

The fresh capital will help the company expand distribution, strengthen community-led brand building, and accelerate product innovation.

A High-Frequency Category Waiting for a Strong Brand

Nail care is not a niche. From students to working professionals, consumers regularly purchase nail polish, nail extensions, press-ons, removers, and accessories.

Yet in India, the category remains fragmented. Many consumers rely on salon visits or low-cost, unbranded products with limited differentiation.

Founded by Tanishq Ambegaokar and Shubham Singhal, Nailinit aims to build a modern, culture-first brand in this space.

Rather than positioning itself as just another product line, the company sees nail care as a form of self-expression. The founders believe nails are part of personal style — just like fashion or makeup — and deserve stronger branding and community engagement.

Beyond Products: Beauty Meets Community

Nailinit positions itself at the intersection of beauty, self-expression, and community.

Instead of focusing solely on selling nail products, the brand is adopting a content-native and culture-led approach. This includes:

  • Community-driven campaigns

  • Social-first engagement

  • Trend-led product drops

  • Experience-focused storytelling

The idea is to make nail care aspirational and expressive, not just functional.

By leaning into digital content and community building, Nailinit hopes to resonate strongly with Gen Z and millennial consumers who value identity-driven brands.

Expanding Fast Through Quick Commerce

One of Nailinit’s biggest early moves has been its focus on quick commerce.

The brand claims to have already built traction across platforms like Zepto and Blinkit, with an upcoming launch on Instamart. It is also available on Amazon, strengthening its omnichannel presence.

Quick commerce plays a crucial role in beauty purchases, especially for last-minute events, parties, or occasions. Nail products often fall into impulse or urgent-buy categories, making 10–20 minute delivery platforms a strong distribution channel.

By combining quick commerce with D2C and marketplace channels, Nailinit is building a diversified distribution strategy early in its journey.

Reducing Dependence on Salon Visits

Traditional nail grooming often requires time-intensive salon appointments, which may not always be convenient or affordable.

Nailinit aims to simplify this experience.

Through easy-to-use products and a strong content-led approach, the brand encourages at-home nail styling without compromising on style or quality.

This convenience factor — combined with aspirational branding — could position Nailinit as an everyday beauty essential rather than an occasional indulgence.

Where the Funding Will Be Used

According to the company’s press release, the newly raised funds will be deployed across three key areas:

1. Distribution Expansion

Strengthening presence across quick commerce and D2C platforms while improving supply chain capabilities.

2. Community-Led Brand Building

Investing in content, creator partnerships, and digital campaigns to build a strong brand identity.

3. Product Innovation

Accelerating innovation in nail care formats, finishes, and experiences to differentiate from generic offerings.

At the pre-seed stage, building strong brand recall and customer loyalty will likely be as important as scaling revenue.

Investor Confidence in Emerging Beauty Brands

The participation of established founders and investors signals confidence in India’s growing consumer brand ecosystem.

Gruhas Collective Consumer Fund has been actively backing new-age consumer brands, while Marsshot VC focuses on early-stage startups with strong brand potential.

Angel backing from entrepreneurs like Razorpay’s Shashank Kumar adds further credibility to Nailinit’s growth ambitions.

India’s beauty and personal care market has seen rising investor interest, especially in digital-first and community-led brands. As consumers shift toward premium, experience-driven products, new entrants have an opportunity to build strong category leadership.

What’s Next for Nailinit

Nailinit’s immediate focus will be scaling thoughtfully.

Rather than rushing into aggressive expansion, the brand plans to continue investing in:

  • Culture and storytelling

  • Customer community

  • Product differentiation

  • Category creation

If successful, Nailinit could transform nail care from a functional purchase into a lifestyle statement.

In a market where consumers increasingly seek brands that reflect identity and individuality, the company is betting that nails are more than just an accessory — they are an extension of personality.

With fresh capital, expanding distribution, and a culture-first strategy, Nailinit is positioning itself to become a recognizable name in India’s evolving beauty landscape.
