LAT Aerospace, an aviation startup backed by Eternal founder Deepinder Goyal, has successfully completed the maiden test flight of its prototype aircraft Lat One v0.1, achieving uSTOL (ultra short take-off and landing) capability.
Goyal shared the milestone on X, calling it a major step forward for the company’s aviation ambitions.
“uSTOL achieved. Achievement unlocked,” he wrote.
Prototype Crashes After Successful Test
Structural Defects Identified
According to Goyal, the aircraft crashed later during the test, something the team had already anticipated based on simulations.
“The plane crashed a bit later, which we knew was going to happen, due to structural defects,” he said, adding that the primary goal of the flight was to validate uSTOL, which was successfully completed.
No further details were shared about damage or losses, but the focus remained on the technical learning from the test.

LAT Aerospace has now begun work on Lat One v0.2, an improved version of the aircraft. The goal is to move beyond take-off testing and complete a full mission profile.
Highlighting the challenges ahead, Goyal noted that getting an aircraft airborne is only a small part of the journey.
“Making a plane take off is only 20% of the problem,” he said, pointing to the complexity of stability, control, and structural integrity.
