A Conversation With Akhilendra Sahu

In this series, we spoke with Akhilendra about AI in PR, common startup mistakes, career guidance for young professionals, and coping with stress as a founder.

1. How is AI transforming the PR industry today?
AI is making PR faster and more data-driven. It helps professionals analyse audience sentiment, track media conversations, and identify trends quickly. Platforms like QuickPR use AI to help brands create press content and reach the right publications efficiently.

2. What problem does QuickPR aim to solve for startups?
Startups struggle to get media visibility because traditional PR agencies are expensive and slow. QuickPR simplifies PR, allowing businesses to publish press releases and gain media exposure faster.

3. Can AI replace PR professionals in the future?
AI won’t replace PR professionals, but it will change how they work. Tasks like data analysis and content generation can be automated, but storytelling, media relationships, and strategic thinking still require human expertise.

4. What is the biggest PR mistake startups make?
The biggest mistake is focusing only on product promotion. Media prefers stories about innovation, impact, and founder journeys rather than simple product announcements.

5. Why is PR important for founders and startups?
PR builds trust and credibility. Media visibility increases confidence among customers, investors, and partners. For early-stage startups, the right stories can open doors to funding, collaborations, and long-term growth.

6. How can someone start a career in PR?
Develop strong writing and communication skills, seek internships in agencies or startups, learn media relations, and understand storytelling in business. Networking and keeping up with trends are essential.

7. Advice on coping with stress as a young entrepreneur:
“I started in this industry very young. Stress is natural, but it can be managed. Focus on time management, prioritisation, and maintaining a clear vision. Take small breaks, stay physically active, and keep learning from every challenge. Building a support network of mentors and peers is key.”

8. Will AI affect job security in PR and tech industries?
AI will change the way we work, not eliminate jobs. Routine tasks like data analysis, media monitoring, or report generation can be automated, but creative thinking, strategy, storytelling, and relationship-building remain human domains. Professionals who adapt by learning AI tools and combining them with core PR skills will be more secure and in-demand than ever.

9. One final piece of advice for founders:
Tell your story early and authentically. Share your vision, learn from mistakes, and leverage tools like QuickPR to amplify your voice. Visibility, persistence, and continuous learning are what separate successful founders from the rest.
